For example of discounts, as of July 31, 2009 the cost of a bus trip with an INSEN (now called INAPAM) card from Guadalajara to Phoenix, AZ is $70.69 in US dollars. The buses are modern with large reclining seats and foot rests. The bus trip is 1300 miles and anywhere from 27 hours to 30 hours long, depending on Mexican inspections en route and border crossing delays. The bus stops frequently and provides an opportunity to stretch your legs. Just be sure that you know how long the bus will stop. Watch the driver. When he boards the bus, you had better do the same.

When you return, the INAPAM discount is not good in the United States, so travel across the border on the International bus from Phoenix for $35.00 USD or from US western cities for more money. Then get the discount for the Mexican leg of the journey to Guadalajara. The return trip then will cost $35.00 USD plus $578 / peso exchange rate. That is a total of $95.69 in USD as of July 30, 2009. The bus stops for a long time in Nogales as the tanks are refilled and the bus is cleaned. You will have ample time to claim your bags, buy the ticket to Guadalajara and then re-board the bus for the rest of the trip. or current prices and schedule, see:
